Hello, Is Intel Xeon X5690 on P6T considered as a server and thus not allowed? I'm asking because those chips were sold for workstations ... And I'm a bit confused. Sorry.

February 15, 2019 at 10:16:47 AM UTC

Xeon is server yes

February 15, 2019 at 11:25:45 AM UTC

@LEEGHOOFD Thank You.

if you can find more Xeon users we can maybe allow these for 1366

February 15, 2019 at 2:29:21 PM UTC

Yes please! On 1366 there are no core count benefits or similar, only price...

Tbh I consider 1366 to be HEDT - are we allowing HEDT in all the divisions now?

Just so you know, 775 was considered HEDT at one time.

1366 is 10+ years old now.

X58 has consumer, and workstation boards available. Only 5520 chipset was considered server / HEDT (SR-2).

February 15, 2019 at 11:19:24 PM UTC

Xeon user here as well...question is, should you allow the whole X-line or just the 5698. The six cores are superior on the platform but clearly Server aimed, the 5698 is the oddball.

February 16, 2019 at 12:27:35 AM UTC

All or nothing.

Fine by me but if X58 is allowed then X79 should be also imo.

Lets go for it.

February 17, 2019 at 6:49:42 PM UTC

Why are people able to sub 6700K's to this? LGA1151 is newer than LGA 1150....

February 17, 2019 at 6:55:42 PM UTC

Just report and will dissapear soon.

February 19, 2019 at 2:29:11 PM UTC

Any update about thé use of Xeon cpu's in desktop bords ?

February 20, 2019 at 7:26:27 PM UTC

@unityofsaintsI mean that we shouldn't have hcc xeons on x79, or unlocked 8 cores

February 21, 2019 at 10:20:30 AM UTC

Can everybody live with Xeons up to 6 cores, hard to configure though

February 21, 2019 at 11:12:33 AM UTC

Max 6 core's is fijne for me

February 21, 2019 at 1:35:47 PM UTC

If you allow x79 than it renders x58 useless.

February 21, 2019 at 2:14:45 PM UTC

K 'ill make a poll, this is too difficult to follow up

February 23, 2019 at 8:06:34 AM UTC
